Based in Istanbul, Ruşen Çakir works as a journalist since 1985. He worked for Nokta (weekly), Tempo (weekly), Cumhuriyet (daily), Milliyet (daily), CNN-Türk (news channel) and NTV (news channel), Vatan (daily), Habertürk (daily). He is one of the leading founders and current editor-in-chief of medyascope.tv.
Çakır’s main subjects are Islamic movements, Kurdish question and Turkish nationalism.
In 1993, he participated to the Human Rights Advocates Training Program at the Columbia University.
He was board member of the Open Society Foundation of Turkey, between 2012-2016.
